Miss Russia: SUSU Student Conquering the National Contest

A student from South Ural State University, Sofiia Kovrizhnikova, is participating in the Miss Russia contest.

Sofiia Kovrizhnikova is a 3rd-year student of the Department of Linguistics and International Communications majoring in Linguistic Support of Interstate Relations and is learning English and Spanish.

“Today my life is all about studies and self-development. Already back in the 7th form at school I had realized that I had wanted to spend my life studying foreign languages, but my priorities changed as I grew older. I became interested in journalism, advertising, and management…However, when the moment came for me to choose my future profession, I discussed it with my parents, passed my exams well, and opted for my major without a doubt. And I’m very happy that I did.
I’m doing well at the university and I’m putting all my effort into it. I can’t stand to miss assignments, so I complete everything on time. Now I naturally have to take a break for one month, to participate in the contest, but right after it I will continue my studies with renewed vigour!”
the girl shares.

The decision to participate in the Miss Russia contest was quite a spontaneous one for Sofiia. The invitation had been sent to her via social media. She filled out the form on the website and passed the first casting round. The student admitted that despite the chosen profession she was attracted by the idea of changes in her life and new experience.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the modeling business and for some reason I felt sure that my life would change one day and I would be able to try my hand in it. Having passed the casting, deep in my heart I was desperately wishing they would invite me for the next round (even though I kept telling everyone that it was unlikely since I had no modeling experience). This way I could prove to myself that I am capable of much more than I can imagine. When they told me that after all the casting rounds I made it to the finals, I realized that my life would never be the same for me anymore,” Sofiia recalls.

The participants undergo active and productive preparations for the contest. They take training with teachers, do fitness training, and pay special attention to their runway walk skills.

“We have an amiable atmosphere here, among the girls, and we are starting to get to know each other better. I feel like I’m changing myself for better. My way of thinking is changing, along with my goals and plans, and the attitude towards life. I’ve become a more open-hearted and relaxed person, and I’m sure that these traits will remain with me and become even stronger after the contest is over,” Sofiia says.
