Scientists from the SUSU School of Medical Biology Took Part in the Interregional Agro-Industrial Conference

Developers from South Ural State University presented their scientific achievements at the exhibition of the 2024 Interregional Agro-industrial Conference (IAC).

Director of the SUSU School of Medical Biology Irina Potoroko moderated the practical case section on the Food Ingredients, Additives and Technologies, the speaker at which was Irina Kalinina, Professor of the SUSU Department of Food Technology and Biotechnology. The scientist gave a report on the Food Microingredients in the Creation of Healthy Food Products: Current Trends.

"We presented the development of food microingredients obtained by modification (microstructuring) using ultrasound and subsequent encapsulation in different ways (coacervation, Pickering emulsions, double emulsions, etc.). These studies are carried out by employees of our department within the framework of grants from the Russian Science Foundation," said Professor of the SUSU Department of Food Technology and Biotechnology Irina Kalinina. "This is our second year participating in the Interregional Agro-Industrial Conference. Participation in the IAC allows us to form new academic contacts and build partnerships with industrial enterprises. In turn, we strive to ensure that our developments meet the needs and problems of the agro-industrial complex and are useful for agronomists and producers."

The event took place at the Grand Hotel Vidgof in Chelyabinsk. The conference also raised issues of zero-waste production, wise selection of crops to increase the yield, the use of digital technologies in the agricultural sector, and effective promotion of companies in the competitive market.

The Interregional Agro-industrial Conference has been a platform for strengthening business ties and solving pressing issues in the development of the agricultural complex for four years now. The event is attended by heads of enterprises, heads of agricultural territories, scientists, agronomists, livestock specialists, and veterinarians. Every year the geography of conference participants expands: this year experts have arrived from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Kurgan, Orenburg, Omsk, Yekaterinburg, Altai Territory, Bashkortostan, and other regions.
