ISTS Student Earns Bronze Medal at the Table Tennis Russian Championship

The Table Tennis Russian Championship was held in Cheboksary March 10th through 16th 2020. A South Ural State University student took part in the championship and earned the bronze medal in the singles and women’s doubles events.

“Idea and Start-up Factory”: Patent Search Training

On February 12, the University Boiling Point held the meeting “Idea and Start-up Factory. Idea Formation. Patent Search”, the participants of which were the university students and staff.

“Idea and Start-up Factory is an opportunity for SUSU start-ups to revise their projects together with the experts, launch pilot projects, attract attention and find potential investors.”

On March 11 and 12, SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov, Associate Professor of the Department of Automobile Transport Vladimir Shepelev and other representatives of SUSU took part in the Smart City forum exhibition, which took place in Radisson Blue, Chelyabinsk.

Russian Scientists Create New Sensitizers for Clean Energy

Environmental research is one of three strategic areas of scientific and educational activities of South Ural State University along with the digital industry and materials science. Scientists of SUSU in collaboration with colleagues from the Institute of Organic Chemistry named after N.D. Zelinsky Russian Academy of Sciences are working on the creation of new effective organic sensitizers that will facilitate the transition to environmentally friendly and resource-saving power engineering.

Student Creativity Festival gets underway at South Ural State University on March 11! “Spring at SUSU 2020” is one of the stages of the city’s Student Spring Festival, which will be held in April. The winners of the city stage will go to the finals, All-Russian Student Spring festival.

Every spring the SUSU Recreation Centre opens a door to the world of creativity and arts to all students. “Spring at SUSU 2020” Festival helps to find the most talented and creative students at the university.

Austrian Scientist from Leading Metallurgical University Visited SUSU

Professor of the Leoben University for Mining, Metallurgy, and Materials, Austria, Head of the Department of Metallurgy, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering) and author of 420 scientific publications Johannes Schenk visited South Ural State University. Dr. Schenk is an Executive Technical Officer of a big Austrian Competence Centre dealing with innovation developments in technological and manufacturing processes for European metallurgical companies. He delivered a lecture on possibilities and prospects of research in modern metallurgical sector for the SUSU staff and postgraduates.

Full Ahead!: Students of the Faculty of History Climbing the Heights of SUSU Elite Training

This academic year, SUSU Department of Russian and International History of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities has turned a new page in its chronicles. To fulfil the competitive growth program, a project for elite training of students was organised. Aiming at individual approach in learning and diving into the world of science, this project will allow the future graduates of the university to lay the foundation for personal and professional development and increase the chances for successful career after graduation.

SUSU International Students Take Part in Futsal Training Sessions

International students of South Ural State University take part in friendly futsal games on a weekly basis.

The idea of conducting futsal training sessions appeared in December 2019. A big request for the organization of football games came from students. Then the SUSU International Office jointly with the Association of International Students found a special venue, on which training games began to be held every week on Saturdays and Sundays.

SUSU Takes Part in the International Education Exhibition in Uzbekistan

The International Education exhibition is a large event dedicated to developing international partnerships in education and presenting young people with an opportunity to earn quality education abroad.

To increase the number of international students from Central Asia, the International Student Support specialist from the SUSU International Office Viktoriya Pentegova participated in the exhibition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The exhibition gathered more than two thousand participants.

Vote for SUSU: RAEX Conducts Online Voting for Top 100 Russian Universities

The RAEX rating agency begins preparing the ninth annual ranking of Russia's 100 best universities as of 2020, as well as subject-related university rankings (Mathematics; Physics; Economics and Management). The purpose of the research is the creation of an independent system for assessing universities based on statistical data and the results of surveys of target groups.

Metal Cup SUSU Students Solved Real Production Problems at the Metal Cup Championship

Students of South Ural State University took part in the International Championship on Technological Strategy Metal Cup 2020. Gold Season. This championship provides an opportunity to test oneself in solving real production problems and get to know the future employers.

The finals of the contest of projects/ideas on the topic “How to Make the World a Better Place” within the framework of multi-day “IT-Maslenitsa” event was held on February 28th. In February 2020, the Winter School of History Faculties of Chelyabinsk universities started. Head of the Department of Russian and International History at the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities of South Ural State University Olga Nikonova told Chelyabinsk students about Master's programmes and conducted a master class on the design of historical research.

Head of the SUSU Academic Writing Office Completes Internship at Higher School of Economics

The Head of the SUSU Academic Writing Office Evgeniya Khabirova took part in an internship at the Academic Writing Centre at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow. The internship lasted for 2 weeks (February 17th through 29th, 2020) and was aimed at providing new professional skills in the development of academic literacy among university staff within the SUSU Academic Writing Office.

“Technocup”: SUSU Held Olympiad in Programming

The final round of the Technocup Annual Olympiad in Programming for the 8th- to 11th-form students was held at South Ural State University on March 1.

The Olympiad is being held since the 2015/2016 academic year, and Mail.Ru Group is its permanent organizer. According to Viktor Mamin, Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, the Technocup Olympiad is the first joint project of Mail.Ru Group, SUSU and general-education institutions of the Chelyabinsk Region.

SUSU Student Team “Young’s Modulus” Represented the University at the INST International Tournament

The 10th International Natural Sciences Tournament (INST) was held in Warsaw. This is a team competition between university students from around the world to solve previously published scientific problems in physics, chemistry, and biology. Students from SUSU participated in the tournament.

SUSU Scientific Library Held Workshop for Academic and Teaching Staff of the Institute of Law

The development of SUSU within the framework of Project 5-100 on the competitiveness enhancement implies a significant increase in publication activity of the university teaching staff. One of the ways to increase the level of publications in Scopus and Web of Science international scientific databases is the constant improvement of efficient scientific search skills. In an attempt to help teachers, the SUSU Scientific Library regularly organizes workshops and master classes with the aim to teach them efficient use of international archives of scientific knowledge.

A World without Language Barriers: We Are All Different, but We Are Together Festival Held at SUSU

The 6th International Festival “We Are All Different, but We Are Together” was held at South Ural State University, with students from many different nationalities participating. The festival was organized by the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications with support from the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre.
