On January 25th, the Russian Students Day, hockey players of Polytechnic Ice Hockey Team of South Ural State University joined the “East” team to take part in the 4th traditional All Stars Game of the Student Ice Hockey League.
This Saturday, on January 25, the second round of the regional championship of the Men’s Amateur Basketball League (MABL) among male basketball teams (season 2019-2020) was held in the Educational and Sports Complex of South Ural State University. At the university venue, the SUSU team met with opponents from the city of Satka.

On January 24, South Ural State University held a traditional celebration of Tatiana Day. The university administration, teachers, staff and students attended the event.
The gala concert started with the theatrical prologue presented by the actors from Mannequin Theatre Studio in historical dresses. Students acted out a scene from the year of 1775, when the Empress Elizabeth of Russia signed a decree on the opening of the Moscow University.

The Smart School of South Ural State University started functioning in the SUSU branch in the city of Nizhnevartovsk.
The goals of organizing the school were to introduce senior pupils to the branch of SUSU, give opportunity to feel like a student, and provide enhanced training for the Unified State Examination. The task of the school was to attract applicants to study in the branch.
South Ural State University announces the annual Russia through the Eyes of Students photo contest. This contest aims at promoting patriotic education, involving students into creative activities, and developing their interest in Russia. Both professional photographers and beginners aged under 30 are among the participants.
The photographs submitted to the contest should be depicting Russia and its regions. It is important that participants capture interesting and attractive aspects of international life, traveling and tourism.
According to the 2020 competitions results for the right to receive grants of the President of the Russian Federation on state support of young Russian scientists, i.e. candidates of sciences, doctors of sciences and major scientific schools of the Russian Federation, one of the winners was Aleksey Minbaleev, Doctor of Sciences (Jurisprudence), Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of the Theory of Government and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law.
South Ural State University is once again opening its doors to talented schoolchildren who are participating in the Zvezda Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Olympiad. Beginning February 1st, the final stage of the Olympiad will be held at 85 venues across Russia.
The goal of the Zvezda Olympiad is to develop and stimulate interest among schoolchildren towards research and engineering and motivate them to enrol in engineering programmes at university. The Olympiad is organized by SUSU and the Russian Union of Engineers and co-organized by 68 leading Russian universities.
SUSU hosted the closing awards ceremony of the 27th Chelyabinsk city and regional youth intellectual forum called Step into the Future – Sozvezdie NTTM (Step into the Future – Constellation of Scientific and Technical Creativity of Youth Contest) as part of the South Ural intellectual and social program for young people and schoolchildren called Step into the Future.
The scientists of South Ural State University are developing new methods of 15Х13Н2 steel hardening, which will find application in oil industry in territories with polar climate. New technology will help to produce steel with high strength and impact viscosity, and its production will not require large financial costs.

Students of South Ural State University from different countries once again joined the Russian national tradition – ice-water bathing on the Baptism of Jesus holiday. This year four students, representing Sri Lanka, Lebanon and Bangladesh, went ice dipping.

South Ural State University will be hosting International Science-to-practice Conference on Building of a Eurasian Bridge in Journalism Education. The conference will be held October 15th through October 16th by European Journalism Training Association (EJTA), Belgium, of which SUSU is a member.

New Year’s winter holidays for schoolchildren of the Chelyabinsk Region were not only fun and interesting but also useful for the future – South Ural State University held a creativity camp session in the Elanchik Children’s Recreation Camp of the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant on January 3-8.
The traditional manufacturing of products from titanium and its alloys is a complex technological task, which requires time and means. Scholars from South Ural State University developed a new technology of producing components from titanium alloys using additive technologies. The new technology will significantly save on further mechanical processing. The article on the research is published in the highly ranking journal Materials (Q1).
