An all-Russian open contest was announced for gaining the Russian President scholarships by candidates from among intramural students (under Bachelor’s, Specialist’s and Master’s programs) and postgraduates studying abroad at the expense of the federal budget allocations.
The recommended period of studies is from one semester to one academic year.
The scholarship covers the expenses on studying, obtaining visa, traveling to the place of studies and back, accommodation, health insurance, and use of the local transport.
On February 25, SUSU’s Jazz Orchestra conducted by a well-known musician and composer, Georgy Anokhin, won Grand Prix of the Live Sound – 2018 2nd All-Russian Festival Contest of Pop and Jazz Ensembles in Yekaterinburg.
The Orchestra performed famous jazz compositions in a composer’s original arrangement of Georgy Anokhin, and his own compositions.
A concert entitled “From the Bottom of the Heart” on the occasion of the Defender of the Fatherland Day was held at the Activity Hall of South Ural State University. On a day like this, SUSU students organized the event with a special respect to the guests.
The event was opened by a welcoming speech of Marina Dymova, Assistant of the State Duma Deputy, and Aleksandr Khlyzov, the Deputy of Chelyabinsk’s Central District Administration.
Today the number of satellites in Space is enormous; therefore their reliable and long-lasting service life becomes a topical issue. Even small meteorites and pieces of space debris are dangerous for satellites. Scientists of South Ural State University are working on development of unique composite panels for protecting space objects from meteorites.

On March 1st at 15:30 an exhibition Chelyabinsk: World of Art will open at the SUSU Arts Hall. The exhibition is dedicated to the 15thAnniversary of opening of the Arts Hall and the beginning of the SUSU Art Museum collecting South Ural works of art of the 20th century.
An awards ceremony for the winners of the Tell the World about Russia first all-Russian contest for family creativity was held in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on February 26th.
In February 2018, a delegation from South Ural State University visited the University of Guantanamo (Republic of Cuba). During their meeting with Cuban colleagues, our university’s researchers presented their developments in geoinformation systems and discussed further plans for partnership.
On March 3, a conference entitled “Day of Open Data in Chelyabinsk” will be held as part of the International Day of Open Data. The organizers of this conference include the Government of the Chelyabinsk region, Technology Park of Informational Technologies, and ITSM OOO.
The goal of this conference is to spread the ideology of open data, increase the technological culture of young people, and encourage the development of big data processing technologies.
Students and staff of South Ural State University are welcome to participate.
On February 24, in Kononovskaya village of the Archangels region, open all-Russian championship started within the Final of the Russian Cup in Skiing. On the first day of the championship athletes competed in individual 10 and 15 km race in free style.
Delegation of South Ural State University visited Embassies of Algeria, Syria, Angola, Mongolia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in order to attract university applicants to studying at SUSU on various educational programs.
Today, nanoparticles are used when creating solar batters, in nanoelectronics, and biotechnologies. But as believe scientists at South Ural State University, the closer attention should be paid to nanoparticles’ use in medicine.
Starting from March 1, 2018, within the framework of supplementary linguistic training program “Lingua” an advanced training course will be launched for subject professors who deliver or are planning to deliver lectures for foreign students in English.
On February 28 through March 1, qualification round of the Metal Cup—2018 International Championship of Technological Strategy in Metallurgy is to be held in Chelyabinsk on the grounds of South Ural State University.
The Championship is the possibility to demonstrate in practice the whole set of professional skills and personal characteristics and abilities. Students and postgraduates of South Ural State University at the age of 16 to 30 are welcome to participate.
The Russian Investment Forum is a traditional venue for presenting the investment and economic potential of Russia. Three companies from the Chelyabinsk Region participated, among which was StendAp Innovatsii LLC (StandUp Innovations) (Innovatsii Detyam company (Innovations for Children)), one of the successful small innovative businesses opened with the help from South Ural State University. The company develops interactive educational products for children.
Interregional Center for Development and Support of Talented Youth Federal Public Institution is holding a Just Love Russia! All-Russian Contest on Patriotic Practices. The contest is supported by Russkiy Mir Foundation established by the initiative of the Russian Federation President V.V. Putin.

On February 22, a ceremonious meeting on the occasion of the defender of the Fatherland Day will be held at the Activity Hall of South Ural State University.
Defender of the Fatherland Day became the annual date when students and staff of SUSU hold an event as a tribute to the memory of defenders of our fatherland.

With each year, the requirements to quality, reliability and functionality of products made of quality and specialized steel increase. Researchers from South Ural State University and specialists from the Laboratory of Special Metallurgy (Lasmet) are studying a new type of steel which can replace expensive analogs.
On February 19, the First Forum of the Federation of Russian and Arab Universities started its work in Beirut (Lebanon). The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Olga Vasilyeva, made a speech during the ceremonious opening of the Forum.
In her welcoming speech, the Minister emphasized that the Forum is an important event for development of educational and scientific cooperation between Russia and countries of the Arab world.
Researchers from South Ural State University Igor Klebanov and Sergey Ivanov were the first ones in the world to find symmetries which are admitted by the system of equations on self-gravitating polytropic gas. Using the method of group analysis, they are studying physical processes in the Universe.
