South Ural State University was visited by the Advisor for Student Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in the Russian Federation, Muponisi Muchechetere. The Advisor took part in a number of meetings and was offered a tour around the SUSU research and education laboratories.
There is just a little more than two months left until the SUSU Institute of Architecture and Construction begins accepting documents. Director of the IAC Dmitrii Ulrikh spoke to us about how to enrol in the university, earn an increased scholarship, and how graduates can find job.
South Ural State University will participate in the demonstration as part of the celebrations under Spring and Labour Day (or International Workers’ Day). More than 300 SUSU students will march in a column along Lenina Prospect and other streets of Chelyabinsk.
The SUSU students’ column will gather on the square in front of the main university building on May 1st at 9:00, and will march along Lenina Prospect towards Revolution Square while holding banners and shouting out slogans.
On April 19th, a scheduled regional contest of young public speakers called Zlatoust was held, in which international contestants also took part. This year the participants had to prepare a speech on one of the following topics: “Ural Is Our Country’s Stronghold!” (devoted to the 85th Anniversary of the Chelyabinsk Region); “Theatre: Art and Traditions” (devoted to the Year of Theatre in Russia); and “My Legislative Initiative”.
Opening of the 6th Conference and Exhibition of science-and-technology and creative projects of SUSU students took place at South Ural State University.

Thirty-three years ago, April 26, 1986, the world was shaken by one of the world’s most horrifying technical catastrophes. The Chernobyl disaster resulted in the release of an unprecedented amount of radioactive substances into the atmosphere with radioactive dust reaching as far as Sweden. The catastrophic accident caused by the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear plant killed up to 50 people directly related to the explosion and over 4 000 died because of radiation exposure.
African Culture Day is to take place at South Ural State University on April 26.This holiday, organised by SUSU students from African countries, is to be held at the Activity Hall for the second time.
SUSU actively develops cooperation with African countries. Presently, there are more than 30 students studying at SUSU and representing 11 African countries: Guinea, Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Students from these countries will present their culture and perform national songs and dances.
The 5th International Festival “We Are All Different, but We Are Together” was held at South Ural State University and featured performances by students of different nationalities who study at SUSU.
The festival of tolerance “We Are All Different, but We Are Together” is held every year. After all, SUSU students speak more than 50 languages and include representatives from many nationalities. For South Ural State University students, this is one of the most important and beloved events.
In September of 2018, third-year students of SUSU’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science won the university’s grant for studying in the sphere of Computer Science and Technology at Beijing Institute of Technology. In the frameworks of the grant, students got paid residence and tuition within one semester.
March 19th through April 18th, the events of the Green Apple Festival of Marketing were open for most creative students and school pupils: 198 participants from 12 universities of Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Belarus, as well as school pupils and students of vocational schools took part in the festival contests.
Graduates of the MBA Centre at South Ural State University’s School of Economics and Management received certificates of the Open University of Great Britain.
The event took place in the frameworks of a visit by Consul-General of the United Kingdom of Great Britain in Yekaterinburg, Mr. Richard Dewell and the Second Secretary, Vice-Consul of the British Embassy in Moscow, Osmanjuwa Kpogho.
April 8th through April 14th, in Minsk, a Fifth Sciteen International Student Tournament on Natural Sciences (STEND) was held – a team competition between students from European universities on solving scientific problems in physics, chemistry and biology, which are usually published beforehand.
On April 16th of 2019, a traditional Inter-university Student Science-to-practice Conference was held at the Department of International Relations, Politology and Regional Studies of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications. Similar to the previous years, among the conference participants were students of not only South Ural State University, but also of the friendly South Ural State Humanitarian Pedagogical University (CSPU).
SUSU’s Centre for International Education announces admissions for academic exchange programmes for the autumn semester in 2019. If you want to spend one or two semesters studying in a partner university, all you need to do is to be a SUSU student, speak English at the level no lower than B1, choose an appropriate major and apply to SUSU’s Centre for International Education (office 161 of the main building).
Studying in partner universities is free of charge.
In just several months, university applicants will have to make up their minds regarding their future profession and the university to study in. South Ural State University organised the Open House Day in order to help school leavers and college graduates to answer the question of where to go for studying.
The Rector of SUSU, Aleksandr Shestakov, was the first one who took the stage of the Activity Hall and delivered a speech for the university applicants and their parents and present them the strategy of the university’s development for the next few years:
On April 2, All-Russian Student Olympiad on Automatic Control Theory took place at Ivanovo State Power University. 56 students representing 8 Russian higher education institutions, including SUSU, took part in the Olympiad.
The 2019 Student Leader of the Chelyabinsk Region competition wrapped up in the South Ural region. From April 12th through April 14th, representatives of the region’s higher education institutions fought to win and be granted a right to go on to the District round. SUSU was represented by students Aleksey Kosarev and Vlada Nedotko.

Scientists of South Ural State University as part of an international group of researchers invented a new method of medication-free treatment of posttraumatic disorders. As reported on Tuesday by Press Office of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), the discovery was a result of studying the phenomenon of a reduced level of “stress hormone” in animals which in stress situations attack their rival instead of running away.
April 10th through April 13th of 2019 an International Education Fair was held in Moscow. The MIEF is one of the major open forums in the field of education, as well as a big-scale exhibition of modern educational technologies, infrastructure and smart solutions. The Fair is being held at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNH) starting from 2014.
