Exhibition “Lady’s Trinkets” Reveals Secrets about Life of Women in the Southern Urals

СThe exhibition “Lady’s Trinkets” will be open to the public from March 30 to April 30 in the Art Hall of SUSU. Despite an airy name, longstanding archeological and ethnographic studies of the Southern Urals form the basis of this exhibition.

The exposition has more than 400 items related to different aspects of the women’s life dated back to II millennium BC - beginning of XX c. That is cosmetics and tattoo sets, mirrors and combs, clothes and decorations. The things that we now consider as knickknacks played a significant role in ancient times.

The exhibition is organized by the Museum “People and Technologies of the Urals” and the Scientific Research Center for Eurasian Studies of SUSU with the help of the Department of Design and Fine Arts.  Chelyabinsk State Museum of Regional Studies, the Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Chelyabinsk, the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography of Chelyabinsk State University, and collectors took an active part in the organization of this exhibition.

We invite all who are interested in regional studies or who just love unusual and beautiful things “with history”.

The opening of the exhibition will be held on March 29 at 14:00 in the Art Hall (1st floor of the main building of SUSU, 76 Lenina prospect).
