The Practice of Philosophical Translation: A Russia-Switzerland Dialog

Today’s science world speaks various languages, but English is the language which brings researchers from different countries together. One current issue for modern Russian researchers of philosophy and socio-humanitarian sciences in the English-speaking scientific community is finding adequate translations of English texts and presentations on the results of their work. Due to this issue the department of philosophy of the ISHS is holding a seminar entitled “The practice of philosophical translation: a Russia-Switzerland dialog” with support from the IODE and the SUSU Scientific Library. Everyone is invited to participate!

Doctor of Science Tatiana Zarubina, professor from Switzerland (Universite de Lausanne), who has been working as an international teacher in the department of Philosophy since October of last year, will present the issue of cultural transfer and new tendencies in the translation of philosophical texts for discussion.

Associate professor of the department of philosophy, candidate of philosophical sciences, Regina Penner, will discuss practical experience in translating philosophical texts in today’s world, and will reveal the special aspects of working with a text as a unit. Associate professor of the department of philosophy, candidate of philosophical sciences, Kirill Rezvushkin, will reveal the important aspects of translation in the context of culture.
