In the Assembly Hall of South Ural State University a meeting of the University Council has been held in a new format. Directors of the university schools and institutes presented their reports on their work over the past academic year. Also, the university students and staff members received awards for their victories and scientific achievements.
As the tradition goes, during the University Council meeting students and teaching staff members received awards for their standout successes over the academic year: degrees of Candidates of Sciences (Engineering) were awarded to Shakhboz Kodirov and Kseniia Iakunina; degree of a Candidate of Sciences (Pedagogy) was awarded to Ivan Novikov; a letter of appreciation from the First Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region was awarded to Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Professor of the Department of Food Technology and Biotechnology Irina Potoroko; a letter of appreciation was awarded to Doctor of Sciences (Economics), Head of the Department of Economics and Finance Irina Solovyova; a letter of appreciation from the Chairperson of the Chelyabinsk City Duma was awarded to Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Culture and Sport Irina Izarovskaiia.

Letters of appreciation from the team of Chelyabinsk Plant of Electrical Equipment were awarded to Director of the Institute of Supplementary Education Irina Voloshina, Head of the Department of Industrial Economics and Project Management Nataliia Dzenzeliuk, Deputy Director for Strategic Development Nataliia Pravdina; certificate of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk Region and 1st-degree certificate for participation in the 12th International Contest of Works by Students and Postgraduates were awarded to postgraduate students of the Department of Economics and Finance Olesia Uriadova; a letter of appreciation for the participation in the digital departments marathon within the Development of the Human Resources Potential in IT Sector federal project was awarded to a digital department lecturer Tatiana Khudiakova; a special certificate for the best debut at the 16th Cheboksary International Film Festival for engineering and regional films was awarded to the SUSU team for the creation of the South Urals. Traces of Ages film; Irina Shamgunova was awarded for her participation in the International Exhibition Conference on Education in Design in the Best Student Work category; 3rd-degree certificates were awarded to SUSU students Kseniia Rybachenko, Danil Afanasiev, and Nataliia Cherkasova for their participation in the International Engineering Championship in the categories of the Best Video, and Top-6 of the Best Engineering Case Solutions, and in Breakthrough Solution special category; Vladislav Salnikov and Taisiia Kuznetsova were awarded the certificates of the winners of the Startup as a Diploma contest; and following the results of the Tournament on Competitive Programming among School Pupils and Students from the Far East, Siberia and South Urals, a runner-up certificate was awarded to the SUSU team including Danil Kaminin, Dariia Kulikova and Iliia Stepanov.
Also, President of South Ural State University Aleksandr Shestakov awarded a letter of appreciation from the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant to the university Rector Alexander Wagner and Director of the Institute of Supplementary Education Irina Voloshina for the development and organization of professional training programmes for the enterprise’s personnel.
Following the initiative by the SUSU Rector, the University Council meeting agenda will now include reports by the directors of the university schools and institutes on the achievements over the academic year. So, each division representative delivered a report on the status of the human resources, research, education and student affairs, and the main tasks for the next academic year were also described.
“The University Council meeting had a substantial agenda in terms of development, academic programmes and research activity. Directors of the university schools and institutes set many tasks before themselves. This reporting format allows to focus attention on our strong points and reveal our weak points. Based on that we can make proper conclusions on correcting the drawbacks of the system work at the university-wise level. And of course, as the academic year is ending, and everyone has been actively working during it, I would like to express words of gratitude to our students and academic and administrative staff for their everyday hard work, and for their achievements over this year,” shared SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner.

The second part of the University Council meeting was held online in the personal accounts of the university staff members. They elected the candidates for the positions of heads of departments, associate professors and professors. All the University Council meeting participants notes the effectiveness of the new format of this event. Reports allow to get an integrated assessment of the work of all university divisions and also discuss the strategic goals and objectives for the next academic year.
