Take Care: Annual Health Day Held at SUSU

This year, as part of the traditional event, SUSU students have had a chance to became blood donors or check their health state by taking rapid testing for HIV/AIDS. The donor centre was opened in the hall of the second floor of the 2nd academic building. This time, 57 university students and staff members have donated their blood.

This is not the first time for SUSU Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs Anton Manuylov to donate blood. This time he also could not stand aside.

“Our university has been collaborating with authorities of the Ministry of Health for many times now. I am happy to see that SUSU students take an active part in it, donate their blood, undergo testing, and monitor their health. Of course, we will continue to expand our interaction and come up with new formats,” notes Anton Manuylov.

Off-site station, where it was possible to take a rapid HIV test, operated near the main university building. According to the organizers, the tests for checking HIV infection are accurate and during the entire period of work there has not been a single erroneous result.

“It is of outmost importance for you to know that you are healthy, can live peacefully, knowing that you will not infect anyone. Such events are important and every person should take care of themselves and those around them,” says student Anastasiia Barmakova.

During the big recess, a quiz on the topic of disease prevention was held, where students, if they answered correctly, received gifts.

Students learned how people can become infected with HIV, how to protect their health, and why they need to take a rapid test every six months. Everyone could go to the main university square to check their HIV status at a special mobile station. A total of 58 people were tested.

The event was organized jointly with the State State-funded Healthcare Institution “Regional Centre for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases”, as well as with the participation of the State State-funded Healthcare Institution “Chelyabinsk Regional Blood Transfusion Station”.
