The first International Jazz Day got celebrated on April 30 of 2012. In November of 2011, the UNESCO General Conference announced about establishment of a new holiday. The goal for approving the holiday was “an increase in the extent of acknowledgement by international community of the educational role of jazz as a power promoting peace, unity, dialogue, and extending contacts between people.”

As per tradition, in April students, teaching staff and SUSU employees take part in annual Saturday Cleaning jobs. In 2018, more than 1000 students participated in Saturday Cleaning jobs.

Each year, the territory gets distributed between representatives of Institutes and Schools. Extracurricular Activities Department coordinates subdivisions’ work, and Administration and Maintenance Department supervises the work at the territories.

SUSU Students Win the All-Russian Student Olympiad on Life Safety

April 16th through 18th of 2018, the 3rd (final) stage of the All-Russian Student Olympiad on Life Safety was held at Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The SUSU team won in the individual and team competitions.

Environment-friendly Magnesite Concrete Is Being Developed at SUSU

Current development of science and engineering inevitably affects the environment; the interaction of human beings and nature is especially visible in ecological problems caused by the mining industry. In the process of natural resources mining, tailings are generated during preparation and treatment and then forwarded to dumping sites. The scientists of South Ural State University are solving the problem of disposal of such magnesium-containing waste by using it as raw materials for production of magnesite concrete.

“Today me and the students cooked gluten-free bread and muffins, non-yeasted buns and cheese buns which combine flour-free, non-yeasted and gluten-free production,” said Leonid Pervukhin, process engineer of IREKS – a company that became famous due to production of high-quality baking ingredients.
