The war made him grow up. By a whole year earlier. But it also made him strong, manly and tough. A battle-front veteran Gennady Komissarov, who has long entered his tenth decade, is still optimistic and to a question «Any successes recently?» he replies with a smile: «Mine are still ahead».
Students of South Ural State University received honorary credentials in the first regional contest of social advertisement called “The World without Fear”. This contest is dedicated to preventing of wrongdoing among young people. In their artworks, contestants needed to reflect the most topical issues of the society. Awarding of the winners took place at the government of the Chelyabinsk region.
On May 9, the whole Russia celebrates the main day in its history, the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. South Ural State University will honor the heroic deed of Soviet soldiers by holding ceremonious events.

On the threshold of the Victory Day, SUSU will hold intra-university events featuring students, academics and administrative staff. Competition in shooting will be held among students and university staff at 9:00 in the Marksmanship Centre.
South Ural State University invites everyone to the Victory Waltz. This year’s dance flashmob dedicated to the heroic act of the Soviet soldiers in the Great Patriotic War will be held on the university square in front of the main SUSU building on May 7th at 13:15.
On May 9, the Immortal Regiment March that has already become national tradition of celebrating the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is to be held in the Chelyabinsk region for the sixth time. Students of South Ural State University will take an active part in both organization of the march and in marching itself.
Formation of the Immortal Regiment column will start near South Ural State University, from where the regiment will march till the Eternal Flame.
On the threshold of the 74th anniversary of Soviet people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, a photo exhibition entitled “History of the Great Victory” opened at SUSU.
The purpose of the exhibition is to tell students about the Great Patriotic War and about contribution of Southern Urals’ residents to the Great Victory. The exposition exhibits historical photos from collections of law enforcement services and organizations of the Chelyabinsk region, as well as photos from personal collections of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, our compatriots.
The Great Patriotic War is a topic that always echoes in many different ways in the soul of every person in our country. This global-scale event combines an immense amount of most contradictive emotions and feelings in it: it is a national tragedy and a national joy, it is a bitterness of parting and tears of happiness from meeting again, it is fear and incredible national courage – it is the unity and greatness of a whole people who managed to defend their Motherland.

The history of May Day has changed a lot throughout history. For many countries in the world, May Day is still a special occasion. Depending on the country’s history, this day is associated either with the start of spring or with the fight for workers’ rights.
South Ural State University finished cleaning up its territory within traditional springtime volunteer clean-ups. More than 1000 SUSU students took part in the activity.
All the institutes, schools, dormitories, laboratories and centres of SUSU involved their students and staff in sanitary clean-ups and beautification of the territory adjacent to their departments. Extracurricular Activities Department was responsible for work coordination and contact with departments, and work at the territory was supervised by the Maintenance Department.
South Ural State University was visited by the Advisor for Student Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in the Russian Federation, Muponisi Muchechetere. The Advisor took part in a number of meetings and was offered a tour around the SUSU research and education laboratories.
There is just a little more than two months left until the SUSU Institute of Architecture and Construction begins accepting documents. Director of the IAC Dmitrii Ulrikh spoke to us about how to enrol in the university, earn an increased scholarship, and how graduates can find job.

The SUSU students’ column will gather on the square in front of the main university building on May 1st at 9:00, and will march along Lenina Prospect towards Revolution Square while holding banners and shouting out slogans.
On April 19th, a scheduled regional contest of young public speakers called Zlatoust was held, in which international contestants also took part. This year the participants had to prepare a speech on one of the following topics: “Ural Is Our Country’s Stronghold!” (devoted to the 85th Anniversary of the Chelyabinsk Region); “Theatre: Art and Traditions” (devoted to the Year of Theatre in Russia); and “My Legislative Initiative”.
Opening of the 6th Conference and Exhibition of science-and-technology and creative projects of SUSU students took place at South Ural State University.

Thirty-three years ago, April 26, 1986, the world was shaken by one of the world’s most horrifying technical catastrophes. The Chernobyl disaster resulted in the release of an unprecedented amount of radioactive substances into the atmosphere with radioactive dust reaching as far as Sweden. The catastrophic accident caused by the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear plant killed up to 50 people directly related to the explosion and over 4 000 died because of radiation exposure.
African Culture Day is to take place at South Ural State University on April 26.This holiday, organised by SUSU students from African countries, is to be held at the Activity Hall for the second time.
SUSU actively develops cooperation with African countries. Presently, there are more than 30 students studying at SUSU and representing 11 African countries: Guinea, Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Students from these countries will present their culture and perform national songs and dances.
The 5th International Festival “We Are All Different, but We Are Together” was held at South Ural State University and featured performances by students of different nationalities who study at SUSU.
The festival of tolerance “We Are All Different, but We Are Together” is held every year. After all, SUSU students speak more than 50 languages and include representatives from many nationalities. For South Ural State University students, this is one of the most important and beloved events.
In September of 2018, third-year students of SUSU’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science won the university’s grant for studying in the sphere of Computer Science and Technology at Beijing Institute of Technology. In the frameworks of the grant, students got paid residence and tuition within one semester.
