University’s Own at the “Celebration of Life”. SUSU Celebrates 73 Years.

 

South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk) celebrated its 73rd birthday and wrapped up a fruitful research and academic year, reports the university’s press-service.

A series of holiday events dedicated to celebrating the university finished with a large, traditional concert which gathered SUSU staff, professors, and students. There were no open spots in the activity hall.

SUSU Celebrating its Birthday in the Style of the Epochs of Ilf and Petrov

 

A theatrical holiday dedicated to the birthday of SUSU called The Union of Science and Achievement will be held on December 15th at 3:00 in SUSU’s conference hall.

Guests and participants will enjoy a theatricalized presentation based on the famous and well-loved literary creations of the soviet epoch, Ilf and Petrov. Also within the program the audience will also be able to see the new film, “SUSU Calendar of Events. 2016” and performances of the best artistic collectives, winners of prestigious international and Russian festivals this year.

20 Musical Masterpieces that Changed the World will be Performed at SUSU

 

On December 5th the symphony orchestra conducted by honored artist of Russia Adik Abdurakhmanov will perform on the SUSU conference hall stage.

An English-Language Newspaper has Appeared at SUSU

 

A newspaper for international students, “Otherside”, has appeared at South Ural State University. The newspaper publishes the most important news from the university and announces events that may be of interest to students from other countries.

Unusual Installations and Music on the Trubophone Featured in the New Season of the SUSU OkNo gallery

 

From October 6th through 27th, the SUSU OkNo Gallery of Modern Art will be presenting projects by Olga Grazhdankina and Pavel Pakharukov, “Meaning and Intention: Contamination” (graphics, ceramics, and installations).

Students from Freiburg Visited SUSU

 

The School of Russian Language and Culture for German students from the Mining Academy in Freiburg has opened at South Ural State University.

The first thing that struck students was SUSU’s size and the number of people on campus, which is larger than the population of Freiburg. The students were already able to visit the railroad technologies museum and the skating rink at the Uralskaya Molnia sports complex, and got a bird’s eye view of Yekaterinburg.

SUSU Graduate Participated in the Graphics Creation for the Film “Ekipazh”

 

Valentin Dorokhov, graduate of the SUSU department of "System programming", worked on the computer graphics rendering for the film “Ekipazh”, which was released in Russia April 21st.

Valentin is the general director for the company “Render-Ferma”, which provided servers and supervised the rendering process, software settings, data synchronization, and corrected errors.

Film of Forensic Science Students Received a High Appraisal at the International Film Festival

 

On April 22, 2016 Tomsk State University (Novosibirsk branch) held III International Film Festival of Student Films on Forensic Science “Golden Trail”. The team of the Department of Forensic Enquiry of the Law Institute of SUSU earned the second place in the nomination “Criminalistics Cases” and a diploma for the best soundtrack. 

New Year in Traditions of Sri Lanka was Celebrated in SUSU

 

1On April 13, the celebration of Aluth Avurudda, a national New Year in the traditions of Sri Lanka (Ceylon), was held. Aluth Avurudda is a family holiday. This day Sri Lankans who are far from their home country tend to come back home. Sri Lanka students of SUSU decided to share their joy with academic instructors and university friends.

SUSU Got Acquainted with Arab Culture

On April 6, 2016 the Day of Arab culture, the festival with the participation of students from Arab countries, was held at SUSU. It was a big, informative event. The celebration was attended by students from six countries from the Arab region: Yemen, Egypt, Iran, Palestine, Syria, and Algeria.

SUSU’ faculty member’s work is nominated for Russian Geographical Society’s prize

 

“From the History of Chelyabinsk: fortress to provincial city, from 1736 to 1781”, a book written by  Gayaz Samigulov, senior researcher for the SUSU Scientific Center for Eurasian Studies, is part of the Russian Geniographical Society’s prize within the Russian prize “Crystal Compass” in the “publication” category.

Exhibition “Lady’s Trinkets” Reveals Secrets about Life of Women in the Southern Urals

 

СThe exhibition “Lady’s Trinkets” will be open to the public from March 30 to April 30 in the Art Hall of SUSU. Despite an airy name, longstanding archeological and ethnographic studies of the Southern Urals form the basis of this exhibition.

SUSU International Students invite you to attend Nowruz celebrations

 

The Chelyabinsk branch of the Association of International Students, along with the SUSU Office of International Activities invite all students and employees of the university to celebrate Nowruz – New Year’s for the Iranian and Turkish peoples.

The event is being held on March 21st in the SUSU conference hall. Guests off this event will be immersed in the holiday atmosphere and learn many new things about our neighbors’ traditions.

Mufti of Chelyabinsk and Kurgan Regions met SUSU Students

 

On February 26 in the Art hall the Mufti of Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions Rinat-khazrat Raev met students of South Ural State University. The rector of SUSU Alexander Shestakov, the head of the Administration of Regional Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims Marat Sabirov and the head of the National Policy Directorate of the Ministry of Culture of Chelyabinsk region Ilya Anosov were present at this meeting. 

26th ‘Odyssey of Mind’ Competitions Are Going to Be Held at SUSU

 

On February 27 - 28 the Faculty of Pre-University Training of SUSU under the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Chelyabinsk region and the Information Center for Nuclear Energy of Chelyabinsk holds 26th regional competition of participants of the international program for the development of creative thinking and team cohesion ‘Odyssey of Mind’.

More than 30 teams from Chelyabinsk, Asha, Kopeysk, Miass, Satka, Bakal, Mezhevoy, Ozersk, Snezhinsk, Magnitogorsk, Kremenkul will present their inventive problem solving with more than one correct solution.

48 hours for development of video games – Global Game Jam at SUSU again

On January 29-31 the largest international competition Global Game Jam will be traditionally held at the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Informatics of SUSU. GGJ participants have 48 hours to organize a team and develop a computer game on the given topic from the scratch simultaneously with more than 20 000 programmers, artists, game designers and simply game fans from dozens of countries.

Students of Trade and Economic Faculty became final prize winners of Higher Open Television League of KVN in Bashkortostan

The first-year students of Trade and Economic Faculty Timur Amirov (gr. 106, major “Polygraphic and Packaging Production Technology”) and Nikita Voronov (major “Food Technologies”) within KVN team “Bardak” (Uchaly) took the third place in the final of Higher Open Television KVN League of Bashkortostan, being held from 10 till 17 December in Ufa. Currently on the list of winnings of the team “Bardak”, which comprises the students of Trade and Economic Faculty, there are a great number of achievements.

SUSU will celebrate International Students’ Day!

On the 16th of November in the hall of SUSU main building, on the second floor there will be a concert dedicated to International Students’ Day.
 
At the present time this event is the day of unifying of the students from all the faculties, educational institutions not only of our country but from all over the world. 
 

Foreign students congratulated SUSU on Unity Day (Video)

 

On the 1st of November the Concert dedicated to Unity Day took place in SUSU. The Concert was organized by students of SUSU, university which adopts every year in its big friendly family the students of different nations and nationalities.
