Students of Tianjin Foreign Studies University Learned about Events Held by the SUSU Pushkin Institute Centre

On October 16 of 2018, events held within the project entitled “Establishment and development of a network of Pushkin Institute Centres in the PRC on the basis of organisations performing education in Russian language” started at Tianjin Foreign Studies University (China). Employee of the Pushkin Institute Research, Education and Coordination Centre, Tatiana Beloglazova, within a meeting with Chinese students of the Faculty of Russian Language, told about development of information technology in Russian language learning.

Project-based Learning at the SUSU School of Medical Biology: Ultrasound for Agricultural Biotechnologies of the Future

Each of the SUSU schools or institutes is engaged in project-based education today. The value of such approach to training is that along with theory the future professionals could obtain certain practical skills, which s/he could directly apply in production while joining the process of work. As much as seven Master’s students are involved in the project by the SUSU School of Medical Biology, who travel to test fields, do experiments and analyse their results.

Temporary Head of the British Consulate-General Office in Ekaterinburg John Mitchell became an honorary guest of the degree awarding ceremony.

SUSU Talents 2018 Festival for Freshmen Closed with a Bright Gala Show

On October 17th at the Activity Hall of South Ural State University a gala show and awarding ceremony were held under SUSU Talents 2018 Festival for freshmen.

More than 300 students took part in the festival, and about 100 applications were submitted from all schools and institutes of the university. On the day of the competition the jury watched more than 60 performances of various genres.

SUSU Improved its Positions in QS BRICS 2019 Regional Ranking

Annually, the prestigious ranking agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds publishes ratings of the world’s best universities. In October 2018, QS BRICS 2019 regional ranking was released and the published part of it included about 400 universities from Brazil, Russia, India, and China. In the course of five years, South Ural State University has been a regular participant of this ranking and has been showing just the positive dynamics. So, this year the university improved its result by 26 positions in comparison with the previous edition, having risen to the 112th place.

A Contest for Best Presentation of Profession and the University is Being Held at SUSU

On October 6th, research fellow of the SUSU Research and Education Centre for Eurasian Studies Ivan Semyan participated in the largest research-and-education forum in Russia, entitled “Researchers Against Myths - 8”, held in Moscow at NUST MISiS. Ivan, as one of the leaders and inspirers of reconstruction activities among young people in the Chelyabinsk region, demonstrated the reconstruction of Neolithic technique for making hunting bows and arrows, and conducted a full-scale experiment to test the penetrating ability of a flint-tip arrow.
