Intellectual Student Forum – 2017, within which all-Russia student Olympiads were held on the disciplines of Transportation and Storage of Hydrocarbon Raw Material and Electrical Engineering, finished at the Industrial University of Tyumen.
SUSU delegation represented by Elena Yaroslavova (Acting Director of ILIC), Ksenia Volchenkova (Head of the Department of Foreign Languages), and Associate Professor at the Department of Linguistics and Translation Irina Stavtsevatook part in International Conference on ESP/EAP/EMI in the Context of Higher Education Internationalization. The conference was held at MISIS National University of Science and Technology on November 23 – 25, 2017.
December 1 is the 60th anniversary of the SUSU School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Today the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science includes 10 departments which perform training of bachelors, specialists, masters and postgraduates in the fields of instrument engineering and automated control, radio electronics and computer science.
On December 13-14 South Ural State University will take part in the annual national exhibition VUZPROMEXPO 2017. At the University’s exhibition booth research developments of the SUSU scientists will be presented, as well as the projects which are being fulfilled jointly with the major Russian enterprises.
The final of the scientific innovation contest UMNIK will be held on November 29th and 30th at South Ural State University. The winners of grants from the Fund for Supporting Innovations will be determined at this event.
Specialists from QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Company will hold a series of workshops at SUSU November 30ththrough December 1st. Quacquarelli Symonds performs expert-and-analytical studies and publishes rankings of the top world universities every year. Within the framework of carrying out the Plan of Events on Fulfilling the Competitiveness Enhancement Pprogram (Roadmap), the specialists from QS and SUSU will be discussing the development and implementation of a complex of measures on improving the SUSU’s position in the QS international ranking.
On December 1, 2017 at 15:00 a celebration will take place at the SUSU Activity Hall on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Instrumentation Engineering Faculty, which became part of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2016.
On November 24th the 11th International Youth Cooking Festival was held at SUSU. Everyone who came to University Building No.2 that day could feel the appealing aroma of delicious food and the atmosphere of creativity that reigned there.
To celebrate the Information Day, the Department of Information Technology in Economics at SUSU School of Economics and Management as a tradition will be holding the 5th Offsite School of Business Information Scientists “An Outward Glance at IT Professions” at “Nauka” Recreation Camp. On November 23 of 2017, the Regional workshop seminar with directors of administrative authorities of Physical Culture and Sport of municipal bodies of the Chelyabinsk region, dedicated to the development of physical culture and sports, was held in Chelyabinsk.
Tatiana Derkach graduated from SUSU as a specialist in Accounting, Analysis and Audit in 2008, and since then has never stopped in her professional development. Today she is Chief Accountant at a major medical center, and recalling the times when she was a student she feels grateful.
Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial Thermal Power Engineering of South Ural State University Konstantin Osintsev has developed an energy technology complex based on solar collectors which would allow to implement elements of renewable power generation at thermal power plants.
On November 22nd a new ranking was published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) – QS World University Rankings BRICS 2018.
Among other things the QS ranking takes into account a university’s reputation among employers, ratio of teaching staff VS students, total amount of the published articles and number of citations.
The results have been calculated and the winners named at the final round of the Open International Internet Competition on the History of Russia, Social Science and Cultural Science (November 10th), and on the Russian Language, Philosophy and Law (November 11th).
The second (and final) round of the Open International Student Internet Competition was held at 33 main universities in the form of on-line testing.
