Vladimir Putin discussed the questions of physical education and sports development at the higher educational institutions with the representatives of students' sport clubs. The meeting was attended by Ildar Kharisov, University Campus sport organizer and fourth-year student of SUSU Power Engineering Faculty.
On January 25, 2013 in Moscow the final stage of All-Russian Students' competition of business projects "Sochi Heritage - 2014" took place. The initiators of the competition are Organising Committee "Sochi 2014" and PwC Administration (PricewaterhouseCoopers).

Two students of Master of Science in Information Technology, joint Master's program of SUSU and Clark University, started their classes from January 15.
The students chose two courses in the current semester one of which (MSIT 3830 - E-Commerce and E-Business) is attended by a great number of Clark University students. The studying process for the first time is hard though very interesting.

Clark University, SUSU partner, was awarded by CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) for the best university Internet website, AIR, magazine and advertising materials.
Besides Clark University the following institutions of higher education took part in the competition: Brown University, Boston University, Tufts University, Northeastern University, MIT, Colby College, Boston College, Hampshire College.
On December 26 the agreement between SUSU and OJSC “Chelyabenergosbyt” was signed. According to it for the students of Power Engineering Faculty the scholarship named after Vyacheslav Seredkin will be founded.
The scholarship named after Vyacheslav Seredkin will be paid to the best students and postgraduates of SUSU Power Engineering Faculty on a permanent basis. It will range from 5000 to 7000 rubles per month for five students and postgraduates.
A charitable fancy-dress ball was held at Faculty of Journalism. In the hall of SUSU main building the students were able not only to participate in master classes on old dances and play favourite games around beautiful Christmas tree but also to take part in a charitable contribution “We are near by”.
Christmas tree, music, tangerines…Every participant who brought a toy for a child received a mask as a present and load of good mood. That day the holiday came to life in every heart.
Since summer 2012 when Russia joined WTO the requirements, which were put forth to the quality of Russian food products, had been toughened. Potentially exported products should comply with not only Russian standards, but with pan-European quality standards as well.
Thereby issues of quality management implementation at food industry enterprises became very urgent. SUSU Trade and Economic Faculty is always among the first to initiate its students with the latest changes in the structure of quality management systems at food industry enterprises.
On January 25 at South Ural State University the celebration of one of the most significant holidays for students will take place! On this day everybody who can easily forget about exams and come to the Hall of SUSU main building will enjoy the students' traditions, take part in the competitions and taste some dishes.
On December 27, 2012 the production technology of a unique product was patented in the State Register of Inventions of the Russian Federation. The patent holder is South Ural State University.
On January 8-13 of 2013 Irina Yurevna Okolnishnikova, Dean of SUSU Trade and Economic Faculty, Doctor of Economic Science, and Irina Yurevna Potoroko, Vice Dean and Doctor of Science (Engineering), being in SUSU delegation were on the official visit to People's Republic of China.
Russian Academy of Science, Institute of Economics of the Ural Department of Russian Academy of Science published the first volume of multi-author monography "Economic Security of Russia: lessons of crisis and growth prospects" (1312 pages). Among the authors of the monography there are the professors of Economics and Management Faculty: I.A. Baev (Doctor of Economic Science), E.D. Vaysman (Doctor of Economic Science), E.G.
New Year 2013 has already come, the holidays have passed... Some students are taking their first exams, the other are having their winter holidays. And the students of Russian-American Master's Program went to the USA to continue their education thus two semesters at Clark University in the USA.

Metropolitan Theophanes of Chelyabinsk and Zlatoust made a regular visit to SUSU. He met with the University management, professors and students of Architecture and Architecture and Construction Faculties to discuss the cooperation issues on reconstruction and building of temples in the South Ural region.
Work on temples’ reconstruction has started in Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute in 1960s with the participation of famous architect Maria Mochalova.
The seminars are held every Saturday. The main purpose of these seminars is the development of scientific schools of the Faculty in the sphere of economics and entrepreneurship, logistics and marketing and also the formation and development of the academic community of the Faculty and University.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. These words of Little Prince quite suit the most sympathetic students of Trade and Economic Faculty. The most active students remembered that wonderful date 12.12.12 thanks to their visit to Orphanage No. 5.
Anna Duts, fourth-year student of Trade and Economic Faculty of the specialty “Standardization and Certification in Food Industry”, was awarded by SUSU Rector with the Letter of Acknowledgement for her achievements in the scientific research activity. In December 2011 Duts A.O.became the finalist and prize-winner of the Competition “SUSU Activists” in the nomination “For Contribution to Student's Science”.
On December 11-12 the International Conference “Decent Work is the Basis for Economic Growth” was held.
The initiative of holding such a great international forum belongs to Putin V.V. in June, 2011.
It was the high-level conference: 16 international organizations, 12 Ministers of Labour from different countries, about 250 foreign guests from 80 countries. The whole number of participants was more than 900 people.
In December Irina Gennadevna Smirnova, Associate Professor of Trade Economy Department of SUSU Trade and Economic Faculty went to Turkey as she was invited by Antalya Academy of Tourism to give an author's course of lectures in business management for future managers in the sphere of hospitality.
